Privacy Policy

Peruse ("we", "our", "the app") is published by Loadout Studio. This policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Data We Collect

Peruse is designed with privacy at its core. We collect as little data as possible.

• Scanned pages and OCR text are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. We never upload your scanned content to our servers.
• AI features (summary, Q&A, translation, quiz) send page text to OpenAI's API for processing. This data is not stored by us. OpenAI's data usage is governed by their API data usage policy.
• Subscription status is managed entirely through Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not collect or store payment information.
• App preferences (theme, font size, reading speed, voice selection) are stored locally on your device via UserDefaults.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect personal information such as your name, email, or phone number.
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
• We do not serve advertisements.
• We do not share or sell any data to third parties.

3. On-Device Processing

OCR (text recognition) is performed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Your scanned images and extracted text never leave your device unless you explicitly use an AI feature.

4. AI Feature Data

When you use AI-powered features (Summarise, Ask, Translate, Quiz), the text of the current page is sent to OpenAI's API over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We do not store this data on any server. The AI response is displayed in the app and stored only in memory for the duration of your session.

5. Subscriptions

Peruse Plus subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment details. Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Apple ID settings.

6. Children's Privacy

Peruse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Data Retention

All user data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all associated data. We retain no data on external servers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
